January 3, 2018...

"There was nothing particularly special about that date. Just a day I chose as I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling fan spin its blades so rapidly, the five became one blurry circle. My legs glided beneath the covers in search of a cool patch while my mind raced, trying to wrap itself around the magnitude of what I was proposing: leave everything I know and love behind to travel the world―by myself. I’d never done anything that daring, and I’m not sure what convinced me that I had that level of fearlessness within me. I just knew I was unhappy, empty really, and I needed something grand to jolt me out of the listless existence that had become my life."

The Finding Series

My Journey

Do you ever feel like there has to be more to life than waking up, punching in and out of work, going home, and repeating the cycle? Have you ever questioned if you're living your purpose and are walking in the truth of your existence? For many years, that was me. I was existing, but I wasn't living. On the surface, it appeared that I had it all together. And by so many metrics, my life was great, and I had absolutely nothing to complain about.

But the truth is I felt empty and devoid of any real joy and soul satisfaction. My spirit mourned for me daily, saddened that I'd resigned myself to complacency, stopped dreaming, and lost faith in my greatness. I desperately needed a wake-up call, a reminder of who I am and what I am capable of. And so God sent me on a journey of a lifetime to rediscover my purpose, gain new perspective, and grow my faith.

My travels started in Japan, and then I ventured around Southeast Asia and Oceania before trekking through the Middle East and Western Europe. There was no real rhyme or reason behind my destinations. I had a rough outline of countries but remained open to suggestions from travelers I met along the way. My plan was to have no real plan and to live spontaneously in the moment, opening myself to the lessons of the day. I wanted to soar with the free-spirited zeal for life that only a bird newly released from its cage would know.

The Finding Series documents my travel experiences and how they have transformed me. It is a deeply personal and candid account, revealing my vulnerabilities, flaws, and insecurities as well as my triumphs. In this book, I share my reflections on each place I visited and the time I spent communing with the universe. As I surveyed my spirit through meditation, I recorded what I believed I was meant to learn and how I was meant to grow.

I welcome you to join me on this journey!
